5. Purpose of this section

There are various technologies that can be used for wayfinding purposes. The most common ones are the GPS, Wi-Fi, RFID and Bluetooth.

In this section, as a built-environment owner who wants to provide wayfinding solutions to make your environment accessible or as a developer who might be involved in wayfinding projects, you will be able to find recommendations and best practices about the whole lifecycle of a technology, from the installation to long-term maintenance.

The Wayfindr research trials so far have been conducted using Bluetooth Low Energy beacons. Thus, this version of the Open Standard includes recommendations about this type of technology.
