We are delighted to announce the launch of our eLearning Course on accessible audio navigation, delivered in partnership with the ITU Academy. The aim of the course is to lower the barriers to understanding and installing audio navigation systems, benefitting vision impaired people all over the world.

The course provides proficiency in developing and installing audio navigation using Recommendation ITU-T F.921: Audio-Based Indoor and Outdoor Network Navigation System for Persons with Vision Impairment. The course includes an overview of vision impairment and approaches to orientation and mobility for people living with sight loss. It then outlines the steps required to design, implement and manage an audio-based navigation system for persons with vision impairment.

The course will allow access professionals, architects, engineers and others to understand the concept of audio navigation and the considerations involved in deploying these systems across the built environment. Wayfindr will provide a list of certified individuals and their organisations on our website.

This is the first-ever online ‘indoor’ digital navigation certificate course delivered by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) – the United Nations specialised agency for information and communication technologies, responsible for developing global technical standards.

The course is available on the ITU Academy website. To celebrate the launch of the course, we are offering a 25% introductory discount until November 30, 2018. This makes the cost of the course just $375.

You can click here to sign up for the course on the ITU Academy website or click here to learn more.
